Letter from the CEO
Happy New Year!
What a start to the New Year with this record-breaking snow storm in the Portland metro area. I hope all of you made it through this uncommon event with minimal damage.
As we enter our 21st year in business, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your continued support of Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal. We have a lot to look forward to in 2017, but before I share our goals for this year, I wanted to share some highlights from 2016.
For the fourth consecutive year, we earned the Carlisle SynTec Systems Perfection 10 Award. Our company was one of the five Oregon-based contractors to receive the honor – given based on installation quality and warranty performance. Additionally, we again were selected as one of 30 contractors nationwide to be awarded the Carlisle ESP Award, Excellence in Single Ply, and the only contractor in Oregon to receive this honor.
Long Beach Roofing Company, a more than 80-year-old roofing company that we purchased in 2014, has some exciting news. Mike Walker has returned to Long Beach Roofing as its roofing consultant and we welcome Ron Walker (no relation to Mike) as our commercial roofing consultant. We are thrilled to have these seasoned roofing professionals join us in California.
Now for 2017! We expect it to be a year of growth over this past year. Even though we serviced rooftop surface equaling more than 10 million square feet last year (that’s 230 acres), I would like to expand that acreage by 50 percent. It is an optimistic, but very possible goal.
As always, SAFETY is our No. 1 priority. We have always taken pride in our careful study of a job prior to the work we do. There are procedures we follow religiously and this is for the safety of not only our crew, but of our valued customers and friends inside the building.
Last, but not least, we are committed to building a strong Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal family vision. We are incorporating The FISH! Philosophy, a fresh and powerful training solution, based on the Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle, WA. Like our industry, selling fish isn’t glamorous. The business philosophy is made up of four main components: Make Their Day Better; Be There; Play; and Choose Your Attitude. We are very excited to bring this philosophy into our workplace. You can learn more about this at www.fishphilosphy.com.
As always, we are committed to our Core Values of Integrity, Relationships, Respects, Results and Safety for our team of dedicated employees and our valued customers in all our regions!
Sincerely, Mark Carpenter
